Have You Said Thanks Yet?
They can't always sit at our table, but they're always in our hearts.
This Thanksgiving, show your support for our men and women in uniform who can't be home to celebrate the holiday with their loved ones.
Take a minute to support our troops by texting a message of "Thanks" to 8-9-2-7-9 (TX ASY) between Nov. 17-22.

Update (11/27/07): Thanks to you, more than 130,000 messages were sent.

A Simple Thanks
What Is Giving Thanks?
We’ve come a long way since the first Thanksgiving celebrated in this country, but one thing hasn’t changed. There are still people standing guard while others share love and friendship.
This Thanksgiving, thousands of American families will sit down to have Thanksgiving dinner, knowing that a family member who would love to be there, cannot, because they are serving this nation overseas. We can’t share the burden they bear, but we can help to lighten it. There is a big national effort underway to get people to send a message of thanks to those who are serving.
The idea is real simple. Take your cell phone and dial 8-9-2-7-9. Then text a message that says thanks to the troops who are serving. If you wait a minute, one of the troops will send a message back.
To me, it seems like the right thing to do. If you agree, please say “thanks” to the men and women who cannot be with their families because they are on duty in the armed forces. And pass this message on to friends and family. Sometimes doing the right thing is just that easy.
